WHO CAN ATTEND THIS RETREAT?
Our retreats are for those who are diagnosed or recovering from cancer. Anyone is welcome to apply for a retreat at any stage of cancer, provided they can care for themselves independently.
I'M A FIRST TIME TRAVELER AND I DON'T HAVE ANYONE TO GO WITH. CAN I COME ALONE?
Yes! With us, you're never alone! Before you go, we are here to guide you and get you prepared as much as possible for this retreat and travel experience. We will email you one week prior to the retreat to check in and update each other as you start your travel from where ever you may be. Depending upon the purchased packaged, we can pair you up with a roommate, who will most likely end up being a lifelong friend. You may come alone, but you'll end up leaving with a community of like minded people who will forever be connected through this experience!
I HAVE A SPOUSE/PARTNER/FRIEND WHO IS NOT KEEN ON JOINING IN THE SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS, BUT WANTS TO TRAVEL ON A RETREAT WITH ME. IS THIS OKAY?
We welcome spouses, partners and friends along with you on any retreat. Everyone who attends our retreats is welcome to participate in the scheduled activities as much, or as little, as they would like, with no pressure.
DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?
Yes! If you choose to take advantage of payment plans, once you've paid the deposit amount, the remainder of your balance can be split and paid monthly until 30 days before the retreat start date. For example, if the total retreat is $5,000 USD and you've paid your deposit of $500 USD, the remainder of the balance ($4,500 USD) can be split monthly until the final payment due date. If you have 2 months left until the final payment is due this would mean a monthly payment of $2,250 USD. For more information on payment refunds, please read our Booking Terms & Conditions. We recommend booking early so that your monthly payment amount is low.
WHY IS THE DEPOSIT NON REFUNDABLE & DUE SO EARLY?
To secure your accommodation, we are required to make non refundable deposits to the venue in advance. Therefore, we need to collect deposits in advance to make these payments on your behalf and arrange all of the retreat inclusions.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Contact us as soon as possible should you need to cancel your spot on the retreat. Please see our Booking Terms & Conditions to review cancellation guidelines.
ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?
All retreats are geared towards adult participation (unless otherwise stated in the program description). At this time, we prefer that only adults attend the retreat.
HEALTH & SAFETY
ARE YOU A MEDICAL FACILITY?
Restorica Retreats is NOT a medical facility and we do NOT offer medical treatments or give medical advice. All participants are responsible to get clearance from their doctor before participating in any of our programs. Furthermore, Restorica Retreats hosts its events at Bella Rosa B&B which is 26 minutes away from the closest hospital (Thomas Hospital Casas Casajús) and 26 minutes from the closest walk-in-clinic, therefore participants with health conditions that require fast access to health care should take that into consideration before making a reservation.
ARE THERE MEDICAL SERVICES IN THE AREA?
The closest hospital is Thomas Hospital Casas Casajús, a top-tier hospital built to accommodate an international airport. A walk-in-clinic is 26 minutes away and the closest pharmacy is 13 minutes away.
DO I NEED SHOTS TO TRAVEL HERE?
No shots are necessary for travel to Costa Rica, but you should consult with your healthcare provider.
WHY IS TRAVEL INSURANCE MANDATORY?
This is to protect you in case of any unforeseen circumstances both before your trip or during your trip. We recommend purchasing travel insurance as soon as your purchase your flight. In case you have a family emergency and need to cancel your flight, travel insurance should cover you. We recommend purchasing travel insurance from World Nomads, click here to learn more.
DO YOU RECORD HEALTH AND EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION?
Yes, when you register for the trip please include information about any allergies, medications, and/or medical conditions. If you are on a particular medication, please be sure that you have enough medication for the duration of the retreat. We recommend that either a family member or friend have a copy of your daily itinerary and your passport in case of a State-side emergency. We also collect emergency contact information from all participants in the unlikely event we need to contact someone at home.
WHAT IF I GET INJURED ON YOUR RETREAT?
We take great care in designing our trips. We selected the highest quality venues and providers so that you will not be placed at risk. In the unlikely event of injury or illness, our Restorica Retreats team will reach your emergency contact if necessary. Your travel insurance provider will also be able to provide guidance on where to receive medical care if required. Restorica Retreats is not liable for any injuries incurred whilst on a retreat or holiday.
TRAVEL & LOCATION
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
As a general rule, passports should have at least six months of validity after your departure from your destination. That means if your passport has less than six months remaining until the expiration date, you should renew it right away! For Costa Rica, visitors from the USA, Canada, and most European countries will receive a visa at the port of entry (i.e. the airport).
IMPORTANT: Requirements can vary by country and may be dependent on your country of origin. Terms of entry are always subject to change and should be confirmed independently with your airline before traveling.
U.S. Travelers - Mobile Passport:
If you are traveling from the US, we recommend looking into Mobile Passport. This app allows you to skip the customs lines in 24 US airports when you return to America. Whether or not you use Mobile Passport, please make sure to have a valid passport for your travels.

WHERE IS OJOCHAL LOCATED?
Ojochal is a laid-back, spread-out village 3.5 hours south-west of the capital, San Jose. It is the culinary epicenter, with a multicultural Ex-pat population. Its friendly, well-integrated vibe has a distinctly different feel from that of surfer-dominated Dominical. Located in the Costa Rican province of Puntarenas, Ojochal is perfectly situated on the coast, which means plenty of beach activities, sites and other fun adventures await in the near vicinity. The villa, Bella Rosa, is in Ojochal, a 10 minute drive from the main road.
There is no noise and no crowds. During our immersive retreat you will only hear the sounds of the jungle, monkeys passing and crickets in the night.
WHAT AIRPORT SHOULD I FLY INTO?
The closest airport to the venue is Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJO), a 3.5 hour scenic drive away. Flying out of the U.S? We recommend using Skyscanner for great deals on flights.
WHAT IS THE AIRPORT DEPARTURE TAX IN COSTA RICA?
Departure tax is $29. The fee can be paid in US Dollars, Costa Rican Colónes, or via Visa/MasterCard (as a cash advance).
IS AIRPORT PICKUP/DROP OFF INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
Yes! We will send you an email asking for your flight details and will arrange a comfortable pick up and drop off (with A/C) for you.
HOW FAR IS THE VILLA FROM THE OCEAN AND LOCAL MARKETS?
The villa is close to many beaches, but there are two beaches we visit most often. One is a secluded beach that is only a 10 minute drive away. The other is a white sand beach with calmer water that’s perfect for swimming.
Our remote location in the jungle, miles away from the noisier cities and tourist-driven areas, keeps our essence intact so that you can relax without distractions. The town center of Ojochal is ten minutes away by car.
There are small grocery stores and a pharmacy in town. The closest market is in Uvita.
This is an all-inclusive retreat, so most of your needs will be covered.
HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I BRING? DO VENDORS ACCEPT U.S. DOLLARS?
If you would like to begin your trip with the local currency, you can check online or at your local bank. Oftentimes you can order foreign currency to bring along. Also, please advise your credit card company on the dates and location of your trip.
There are ATMs throughout Costa Rica. We recommend that you do not carry much cash with you, as you can get money from the ATM any time you are in town. The exchange rate is best when using ATMs rather than exchanging money at the bank or airport. There is an ATM in the baggage claim of the airport in Costa Rica. The conversion rate usually hovers around 580 Colones to 1 US Dollar.
Most major credit cards and debit cards are accepted. Most places do accept US dollars, but it’s always wise (and fun) to have some Colones (the local currency). We suggest that you bring a couple hundred USD just in case.
AM I AUTOMATICALLY SIGNED UP FOR TOURS?
Yes, if you wish to opt-out of a tour, please contact us. You can also attend optional tours during your free time. These tours are included in your package and are an option in case you'd like to do a bit more sightseeing.
IS THERE INTERNET ACCESS?
Yes, we offer free WiFi access throughout the entire villa. We encourage taking advantage of your time here to take somewhat of a digital detox. Note that because we are in the jungle in Costa Rica, the internet will not be as fast as you are used to. If the internet is down and you have a digital emergency, there are cafes and restaurants within a 10 minute driving distance with free WiFi.
DO THE ROOMS HAVE A/C?
Yes, all rooms and common areas have working air conditioners. The gym has a ceiling fan and large sliding doors that open wide .
IS THERE HOT WATER?
Yes, there is hot water throughout the property.
IS THERE LAUNDRY SERVICE?
Yes, leave your clothes with us in the early morning and you will have them back in the late afternoon. There is no charge.
AM I ALLOWED TO SMOKE ON THE PREMISES?
Costa Rica has passed very strict non-smoking legislation. Smoking is prohibited in public places. Please be aware that you are not going to be able to smoke on our premises during your stay. Thank you for understanding.
IS THE FOOD AND WATER SAFE?
Yes, the food and water at the retreat venue and most spots in the area is safe. The villa and the rest of the Ojochal area sources its water from a local spring which is treated and checked weekly and does not include fluoride.
ARE THERE TOWELS AVAILABLE FOR USE IN THE ROOMS?
Yes, we provide towels in each room. Please bring your own beach towels.
DO YOU ACCOMMODATE SPECIAL DIETS?
Yes! We accommodate most special dietary restrictions like allergies, vegan, and gluten-free diets. Our private Le Cordon Bleu chef serves wholesome, fresh, organic meals that are simple and delicious. If you have dietary restrictions, please note this on your registration form so that we can be prepared for you. If you have an extremely restrictive diet, consider bringing along extra snacks or special foods you enjoy. Also feel free to email us at email@example.com if you have any dietary concerns.
IS THE FOOD ORGANIC?
We serve organic fruits and vegetables, purchased at the local farmer's market and organic farm, when possible.
SHOULD I BRING MY OWN SNACKS?
If you like to snack, we recommend bringing some special snacks with you, but this is not necessary. The meals are abundant and we are confident that you will be well fed. We will also be providing you with fresh fruits throughout your stay to ensure you're never hungry. If you have extreme allergies or strict dietary needs, you may want to bring some supplemental foods to enjoy during your stay.
WHAT KIND OF DRINKS DO YOU SERVE?
Fresh juices are offered as well as water, tea, and coffee. Extra drinks are not included in our packages and we do NOT serve alcoholic beverages.
